My initial concepts wanted to explore this and i had a think about what awaking actually was. My intial concepts revolved around the ideas of patterns of light coming in through the exterior walls harking to prehistoric concepts of sleeping in wooded areas for protection with the tree canopies in the morning at the time of human awaking would create patterns of amber coloured light to stream through the green canopy.
I had the idea that because of the site being on a fairly industrial site, and a artificial one at that with human efforts to reclaim the shore line ending up with with this stretch of land that had filled in what was once the sea, i thought about the idea of some sort of deconstructivist ship that would serve as this architectural area. This idea came about with the idea of such a foreign ship object inland would raise the idea of public awaking to the artificiality of the site, it would again cause awaking in looking out for and refurbishing those old buildings in the area which have started to fall into neglect, while also i thought a shade sail like structure above would create a very cloud light feeling of overlapping whites that would create that same sort of experience when waking up to a different pattern of light in the sleeping space.
Conceptual telescope like objects have been entered for interest value offering views of focal points around the area while also playing on the idea of accelerated interest when awaking to the weather, the look of the city, events happening, where everyone is, the time, etc.
